Principal Investigator

Elizabeth Goldman, Ph.D.

Dr. Goldman received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) under the mentorship of Dr. Su-hua Wang. While at UCSC, Elizabeth worked in the Infant and Child Development Lab, where she researched how parents help their young children make meaning out of their interactions with robotic toys. She completed her postdoctoral training under the guidance of Dr. Diane Poulin-Dubois at Concordia University’s Cognitive and Language Development Lab. Elizabeth currently runs the Children and Technology (CAT) lab in NYC and works with a team of students on a number of ongoing research projects that investigate a variety of topics. These include (1) children's understanding of living/non-living things, (2) how children interact with and learn from technology, and (3) children's prosocial behavior. In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys baking, traveling, and spending time with her cat, Mushu! Reach her by email: elizabeth.goldman@yu.edu

Research Assistant

Julia Mcclellan

Hi! My name is Julia and I am a recent college graduate from UCSC with a B.S. in Cognitive Science. I am interested in the neural mechanisms and top-down factors that facilitate human cognition and behavior. I worked in Dr. Goldman’s lab for a little over a year, and greatly appreciated the opportunity to learn and grow as a behavioral researcher under her mentorship. Her research initiatives investigating how children develop amidst a world of growing technology offered stimulating projects that have not only taught me invaluable skills but also showed me how to think differently about topics relating to psychology, development, and society. I have learned so much from her and have been well-prepared for my new job: Lab Manager/Research Associate at the Language, Learning, and Multisensory Brain Lab, a part of Haskins Laboratories at Yale University.

Research Assistant

Stephanie Fran

Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie Fran, and I graduated UC Santa Cruz in 2021! I am currently applying to grad school in the hopes of getting into an occupational therapy doctorate program! Working in research online has been an exciting opportunity as we get to see the kids in their natural environment. Additionally, working with the team to analyze our data and run the study has been a lot of fun! I'm excited about the research that we will be doing in the future! In my spare time, when I'm not in the lab, I like to do yoga, go on solo coffee dates, and go on really cool day trips to different parts of California!

Hello! My name is Sandy, and I am currently finishing up my undergrad in Specialization Psychology at Concordia University. I first learned of Dr. Goldman's research through one of my cognitive science classes, and ever since, it has been something that greatly interested me. I am very grateful for the opportunity of partaking in this lab and I hope to learn and grow with the experience that I will gain here. Outside of school, I like to read and play piano, as well as partake in activities such as jogging and biking.
